If you know me or have
followed me for any extended amount of time, you know I love a good awards show. The #GRAMMYs are, arguably, my favorite. The outfits are kind of ridiculous. They performance are out of this world. And they give out, like, four awards.
As usual, this year's ceremony was OUT OF THIS WORLD. Let's be real, kicking off anything with Beyonce and Jay Z is going to be ahhhhmazing.
But... let's not get ahead of ourselves. We have the Red Carpet to discuss. The #GRAMMYs Red Carpet is always the one where music's biggest stars (minus One Direction, Rihanna, Kanye and Justin Timberlake oddly...) get to have a little fun.
Who We Loved:
1.
Katy Perry
So this literally just came from the couture runway show in Paris. Like, as in, last week... And who else could pull this off? Exactly. I will say, I liked it on the runway better. But, duh. (
I think it has something to do with the lining.)
2.
Ciara
Talk about glowing. This Modern Magnolia showed the world how to do pregnancy chic the right way. In custom Pucci, she absolutely showed every mom-to-be on the #GoldenGlobes Red Carpet how it's done.
3.
Jared Leto
Beautiful Louisiana beau, Jared Leto, has been a flawless human being at every awards show this year. And then he showed a different type of flawless- the one reminding you that he is, in fact, in a rock band. Like seriously, I want his ombre.
Who Almost Got It Right
1.
Kacey Musgraves
So close, Kacey, so so so close. I like this dress, I think. I like this color, too. But it's too short and there's something off about the fit... But HUGE congrats on her win last night!!
2.
Anna Kendrick
Again, so close Anna. Her hair looks fabulous but the top of the dress is just a little off. I'm not sure... Oh well.
Favorite LOL Moment
The hats at this event were crazy. None more noteworthy than Pharrell's first hat.
I mean, look at that thing. There were literally millions of tweets about it (at one point "Pharrell's hat" was a trending topic in the United States) but none were more PERFECT than this one:
It came pretty quickly and was simple and on point. As a #socialmedia nerd, I was giddy. And the rest of the world's #socialmedia nerds were too-
And of course, Pharrell being the perfect human that he is, responded in the most amazing way possible:
The Actual Ceremony
1.
Beyonce and
Jay Z opened the show and slayed. Like we all knew they would. Also, my new favorite word is "Surfboardt."
2.
Lorde is the most perfect little goth ever.
She took home a couple gramophones and her reaction to her first win was the absolutely most perfect reaction of any white girl ever...
Like, same girl. Same.
3.
Kendrick Lamar & Imagine Dragons
This was my favorite performance of the night. I have been complaining about Kendrick getting robbed by Macklemore for the last week and a half and I was so happy that he showed the entire #GRAMMYs voting committee what they didn't reward. It was such a great performanceeee.
And then there was this...
I have no words other than UGH.
4.
Get Lucky
The dance party that happened during the Daft Punk + Pharrell + Stevie Wonder performance was unreal. Can you even imagine what it would feel like to be performing your song and look out to see Steven Tyler, Yoko Ono, Jay Z, etc. etc. etc. having an absolute dance party? Ahhhhhmazing.
And... they won a couple of awards and the speeches were hilarious.
5.
The Highwaymen
So for most people attending last night and talking about it today, this performance didn't make their top moments. These people suck. I genuinely shed a tear during "Mama Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys." For anyone that loves country music, this was absolute magic. I got kind of excited on Twitter-
But seriously, I can't believe people are so nonchalant about this performance. Especially with the lack of country music representation... because, clearly, this doesn't count.
(But in all seriousness, I can't stop watching this GIF. It is so weirdly mesmerizing...)
6.
2/4 Beatles > 3/3 Jonas Brothers
This moment needs no description. If you didn't love it, you don't deserve to be allowed to listen to music.
And finally, I will leave you with this because LOLZ.
So there you have it. The Super Bowl of the music world was amazing and I'm already counting down the days until next year's ceremony when Beyonce's surprise album sweeps all the awards.
