For years I
have read every magazine, watched every TV show, followed every trend with an
asterisk- the one that says, “This is awesome but it doesn't apply to me” or
“Yeah but in the South we…” From makeup trends to dating advice, I seemingly
skip over complete articles. I’m sure yellow eyeliner or blue mascara is fun to
rock in LA or NYC but it’s just not something I’m interested in. I am, however,
interested in how to keep my makeup from running off my face when it’s 100%
humidity in the middle of July. And sure, I may love to look at the best ways
to style a Miu Miu platform sandal, but what I really want to know is how to
style my new cowboy boots for football season. For all of the many, many
magazines I love to read and draw inspiration from, not one of them ever
mentions every Southern girl’s tried and true staples- Lilly Pulitzer and a
strand of pearls. For the most part, trends have come and gone before anyone in
the South has even bothered to notice and we like it that way.
So I've decided to create a space for girls from the South, written by girls from the
South. We’ll talk trends, TV, celebrity gossip, college football, apps, social
media, tailgating, sorority recruitment and anything else that you want to talk
about. We’ll not only tell you but show you what we’re wearing, who we’re
talking about and where we’re going. We’ll offer advice on boys, job
interviews, fantasy football drafts and sorority recruitment. Basically, if
it’s something you and your friends talk about, we’re probably talking about it
too. We
want to offer you a place where you’ll never have to add the asterisk.
So welcome to
Modern Magnolias. Grab your glass of sweet tea and stick around for a
while.
Stay Southern
y’all!

ReplyDeleteI'm so excited for this! I love being a southern girl it's so true. Most things in pop culture do not apply to the southern woman. Thank y'all for this and congrats!
