Just Say NOveralls.

via www.funnymemes.com
Back in May when I wrote our very first post, I said, "For the most part, trends have come and gone before anyone in the South has even bothered to notice and we like it that way." Recently, I've taken notice of a handful of trends that I have found... perplexing, to say the least- Birkenstocks, pajamas on the street, and, perhaps most troubling, overalls. (Even Leandra Medine, better known as Man Repeller, named her first book "Seeking Love, Finding Overalls" ...like, really?! Ugh.)

But anyway, back to my girl Danielle...

I'm not sure if it was leaving Lilly Land (a.k.a. my college campus), working at a PR firm or transitioning into my "angsty early twenties" but over the past year, I have been reading more and more fashion blogs based out of NYC. One of my absolute favorites is WeWoreWhat by Danielle. She has an effortlessly cool, "rocker chic" style that is heavily infused with trends from the 90s.

While I adore most of her looks (though I could never pull them off), her love of overalls has gotten to be too much. I understand that they are her "signature" look but I just can't...

I am all for embracing trends but explain to me why my grandfather's go-to work outfit, on his farm, is now popular with bloggers and celebrities. These looks could never work in the South because people actually wear overalls for their intended purpose. Ugh.

I guess looking like you're about to work on a carburetor is cool now? Well... cool again. How many of y'all had your mother dress you up like this back in the 90s? I know I sure did. At least I was totally on trend.

Danielle, I still love you and your blog but this trend is just not something I will ever, E V E R be on board with.

How do you feel about overalls? Just say no or go for it? Tweet me and let me know :)

Stay Southern y'all!
