#MMLovesTech: Apps We Love

I firmly believe that each year should begin with a cleanse. No, I’m not talking about a juice cleanse (I do love those, but that’s a whole different story…), but rather a technology cleanse. How does this work? Easy. First, you go through your phone and delete contacts you either don’t know or have removed from your life (cough ex-boyfriends).

Next up? Apps. Now, when it comes to apps, I generally try out a ton and then weed out the ones I know I’ll never use. In doing this, I have found several tried and true apps that I believe every #ModernMagnolia should have...and I’m sharing them with you because duh.

MessageMe is one of my favorite free messaging apps. I use it almost every day, primarily to talk to friends who are not #TeamiPhone (ahem... Caroline). Like regular messaging, you’re able to send texts and pictures, but you can also send songs from iTunes, videos from YouTube or Doodles. It's a wayyy better messaging experience than plain old texting. You can create groups based on whatever you desire AND you can name them whatever you want!

I can’t even begin to tell y’all how much I love Mailbox. I was one of those people who joined the waitlist for the app and the insane wait was worth it. Better than the iPhone’s native Mail app, Mailbox allows you to delegate emails into groups, remind you about them at a later time and provides you with a great Instagram image once you hit “Inbox Zero” (you’ll quickly get addicted to the feeling of hitting zero, trust me).

Oh, Mynd, how I love you so. This calendar app syncs with your Facebook (as well as the native iPhone calendar) to bring you everything you could possibly need in a calendar. It shows the weather, the places you’ll be traveling to that day (if included in your events for the day), what your next meeting is and how many you have left. BONUS- it even tells you what time you need to leave your current location in order to make it to your next event. As a big calendar person, I’m a huge fan of how clean and efficient this app is.

Have you ever seen an outfit you love on Pinterest or on TV, but have no idea where you could actually get it? Enter in The Hunt, a collaborative app in which users from all over help others hunt down certain items and find either the exact piece or near replicas. I’ve been able to find so many of my favorited Pinterest clothing items that I didn’t think were even still available, so needless to say, this app is a keeper!

A common question when I’m deciding on weekend plans with friends is where the best Happy Hour deals are. Luckily for us, we have the Happy Hours app! The best part about this app? It shows every happy hour in your area, listing the times it’s going on as well as any additional specials they may be having. Through this app, we’ve been able to find some great hidden treasures, as well as hit up local favorites.

I. Love. QuizUp. My younger brother was actually the one who introduced me to the app, with the fair warning that it would become an addiction...and man, was he right. I love that I can challenge my friends who have it and I love that there are so many topics to choose from. My top three most played categories? Game of Thrones, One Direction and The O.C. #sorrynotsorry

Ok. This app is completely ridiculous and a really addictive way to waste time. Basically, it's a way to make your photos look like Lisa Frank (circa NOW) got a hold of them. The Bleach app has a built in "Selfie Booth" with tonsss of filters, stickers, backgrounds, borders and more. It's really fun to play with. It serves no real purpose other than making awesome images like these:

Did we leave off any of your favorites? Let us knowww over at @ModernMagnolias :)
