#FourthOfJuly Fabulous

http://www.buzzfeed.com/dianabruk/times-stephen-colbert-was-the-perfect-man
It's that time of year again- when American pride is literally exploding out of everyone. Southerners are notorious for being exceptionally patriotic so we know y'all have been outfit planning for a while now. And while the Fourth of July is PLENTY enough excuse to buy a new red, white & blue themed outfit, we have the addition of the US's apparent interest in the World Cup now that the #USMNT might advance to the round of 16 teams. (I can't even lie, I'm really starting to enjoy soccer. Though I REFUSE to call it football. Obviously.)
http://www.buzzfeed.com/justinabarca/heres-the-chant-you-need-when-watching-the-us-during-the-wor?b=1
So take a look at some of our favorite Fourth options below!

http://richgirlrags.com/product/monogrammed-tanks/
So last week, Rich Girl Rags (one of my absolute favorite places to shop) released their American Honey lookbook and it's safe to say, all of us at Modern Magnolias kind of fell in love. (Seriously, here's Lanie's post about it.) Like, look at those tanks... a monogram AND a bow?? What could possibly be better? WELL, WE'RE ABOUT TO TELL YOU.

http://buzzfeed.com/giffeed/3208450
Adding these Lauren James shorts. Like, seriously though... have you ever seen a more patriotic pair of running shorts?? Obvi you haven't.

Lucky for you, they have them at Rich Girl Rags, too. Convenient right?

http://richgirlrags.com/product/lauren-james-stars-stripes-shorties/
Now if you're like me and you have a family tradition that requires you to look a little more put together than a tank and shorts combo, we have options for you too. (Thank God for this lookbook because I am too lazy to scour the internet for options.)

pinterest.com/richgirlrags
I seriously died when I saw this on their Pinterest page y'all. Here's a better look at this fabulous maxi dress.
http://richgirlrags.com/product/chevron-maxi-dress/
If a maxi isn't what you were going for, they have a reallyyyy cute alternative that is patriotic but can also be worn for any other event. Everyone needs a little red dress all those country songs seem to talk about, am I right?

http://richgirlrags.com/product/red-tulip-skirt/
Dresses not your thing? No worries. These sailor shorts are literally to DIE for.

http://richgirlrags.com/product/striped-shorts/
Now to accessorize. Personally, my favorite part of the outfit process.

http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/09/82/4c/09824c4fb38f064cc3f9b5da279d65a4.jpg
The majority of y'all will have all the nail polish you'll need for this already. This is much less obnoxious that some other patriotic themed manis we've seen pictures of. (Pro tip: use a toothpick for the star!)

http://www.thatmadonnagirl.com/shop_/patriotic-roses/
I've already worn this That Madonna Girl halo out and about and had people offer to buy it off of my head. Definitely a conversation starter/attention grabber/crowd pleaser.

http://www.jackrogersusa.com/shoes/navajo-classic-palm-beach-flat
As uncomfortable as they are, these Jack Rogers Navajo Sandals really are perfect for the Fourth.

Be sure to add a bold red lip to complete your look! We suggest Stila's Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Beso. This stuff actually does stay put!

So here's to a fabulous Fourth y'all- and GO AMERICA!!

Clothing and other specialty goods that take you from town to the country, as any good Charleston man should be ready to do.
Classic Charleston/British style with timeless pieces that last like heirlooms.
Always a fun wild card because it’s just such a cool place to hang out in. JP is the truth.

Food and drinks until 3 AM!!!

SUNDAY

8:00 AM Dixie Supply Company (62 State St., www.dixiecafecharleston.com) Looks can be deceiving for this gas station turned cafe but your taste buds will not be fooled when you try their Belgian waffle sandwich.

10:00 AM St. Philip’s Episcopal Church (142 State St., www.stphilipschurchsc.org) Established in 1681, St. Philip’s is the oldest religious congregation in South Carolina and is a breathtaking place to sit and worship. This is the Holy City, afterall.

8
12:00 PM Alluette’s Cafe (@alluette, 80 A Reid St., www.alluettes.com) Mrs. Alluette’s small cafe is as beautiful and vibrant inside as her holistic approach to southern soul food. One of the few places that can fill your stomach and your heart simultaneously.

We hope you don’t feel too overwhelmed- if you’re only going to be in our beloved city for 36 hours, we wanted to make sure you experienced as much of the Holy City as possible. We intentionally left our tourist-y things like carriages rides, the Market, etc. because, let’s be honest, that’s just too easy. Experience Charleston like a local. And next time, plan to stay longer!

#CWS- College Baseball Players: I get older, they stay the same age

At some point during this college baseball season I came to the realization that I am officially older than most boys playing college baseball at this point. #PostGradProbz Like, is it still okay to be into kids that just graduated high school? I don’t have the answer to that. But I think Wooderson was on to something with his semi-creepy philosophy regarding high school girls in Dazed and Confused, so I am applying it to the CWS this year (and like every year for the rest of my life tbh). Just know that even though you’re getting older, graduating college, and becoming “adults,” college baseball players will always be the perfect 18-22 year olds to bring you back to your youth. You get older, they stay the same age. So, for you belles who don’t like baseball, when your boyfriend changes the channel from that Real Housewives marathon to the CWS, don’t fret, I’m going to give you some beaus to get excited about baseball for.

I was going to attempt to be all Erin Andrews and talk about their stats and whatnot, but to be honest, do we REALLY care? Answer: Nope. So, here’s your man candy to be on the lookout for during the College World Series from all the southern schools heading to Omaha (which is 7/8 teams.. lolz sorry UC Urvine, you’re not making the list).

Virginia Cavaliers

Austin Young #39
Hometown: Mechanicsville, Virginia
Class: Senior
Position: Pitcher
Twitter: @AY_4_Tree39

Literally NO personal facts on the Virginia website, but I did confirm that he enjoys people watching:

Not only is good at baseball, he is an accomplished Candy Crush player:

I cropped some girl out of this lolz.

Texas Tech

Chris Sadberry #42
Hometown: Holliday, Texas
Position: Pitcher
Class: Junior
Twitter: @Zeus_Sadberry42

Bad news: He has a girlfriend. But they are like, pretty cute together, so it’s whatever. We can still look at him, right?

Like, we are jealous of you, girl. But we can relate to that dog…

Texas Christian University Horned Frogs

Jerrick Suiter #31
Hometown: Valparaiso, Indiana
Position: Outfield/Catcher
Class: Junior
Twitter: @TCUSuit31

Not only is Jerrick going to the College World Series with the TCU Horned Frogs, he was like, REALLY good at basketball and football in high school. He was named Times Indiana’s Male Athlete of the Year. Totally wouldn’t mind playing some one-on-one with this bro. Also, I am pretty sure all of these pictures are from when he was in high school but I am totally NOT concerned.

Louisville Cardinals

Sutton Whiting #1
Hometown: New Wilmington, Pennsylvania
Position: Infield
Class: Junior
Twitter: @SuttWhiting

From what I can tell via Twitter, Sutton seems to be SUPER active on Vine, so you should totally follow him if you’re into that. GoCards.com tells me that his favorite candy is Reese’s and like THAT’S MINE TOO I THINK WE ARE SOUL MATES. I think he plays shortstop, and I am pretty sure he is a super nice person (I am basing this on the fact that I looked at like a million pictures of him and he is precious and I love his smile so like how could he not be nice, ya know?).

gocards.com
Look at him being adorable and focusing on the ball.

Here is Sutton running his precious little heart out!

LOOK HOW CUTE HE IS HOLDING THIS BABY BACK IN 2012. OMG.

Shane Crain #41
Hometown: Lexington, Kentucky
Position: Catcher
Class: Senior
Twitter: @ShaneCrain4

“Favorite foods include BBQ chicken, mashed potatoes, corn and sweet tea.” Y’all, I think I’m in love. One of his favorite movies is The Patriot and like that’s MY favorite movie too. These Louisville boys just get me. He also likes country music and classic rock. Sold on this beau, y’all.

Ugh look how hot he looks smiling in the middle of this “Shane Crain Name Game” Vine his teammates did. *SWOONING*

Baseball players + Children = YES

I think I’m in love.

Jeff Gardner #42
Hometown: Louisville, Kentucky
Position: Outfield
Class: Senior
Twitter: @jeffgardner13

Hobbies: movies, hunting, fishing, and hanging out (with me?). Two of his favorite movies are Remember the Titans and Field of Dreams. Taste in music: “..anything that sounds good.” Like, ME TOO JEFF. He enjoys watching The Office and his favorite cereal is Honey Nut Cheerios. He and I have SO MUCH IN COMMON. It’s like we’re meant to be. After college he wants to “play professional baseball, start a family and do what the Lord wants for him to do.” AKA HE IS BOYFRIEND MATERIAL.

I think he’s looking directly into my soul.

Texas Longhorns

Nathan Thornhill #36
Hometown: Cedar Park, Texas
Position: Pitcher
Class: Senior
Twitter: @NathanThornhill

Enjoys Denzel Washington movies and listening to Taylor Swift (I hope he lost a bet and one of his friends made him put this on his bio). But the only thing you need to know about him is that his favorite television show is Doomsday Preppers. We would get along smashingly.

PITCHER = ARM MUSCLES

Collin Shaw #4
Hometown: Austin, Texas
Position: Outfield
Class: Junior
Twitter: @collin_shaw

Not much on his bio (do better texassports.com), but his favorite movie is The Gladiator, and that’s something I can get behind. And he’ll totally do yoga with you:

www.gazette.net
Here’s Collin playing for some other team over the summer but I don’t care because LOOK HOW CUTE WITH THIS SMALL CHILD.

timesunion.com
He obvi likes to dance with his teammates in the middle of baseball games!

Ole Miss Rebels

Chris Ellis #10
Hometown: Birmingham, Alabama
Position: Pitcher
Class: Junior
Twitter: @ChrisEllis_10

The Ole Miss website doesn’t have any fun facts about him I can’t find much about this beau. But he’s from Alabama and I like his face so, he’s in. Oh, and via his Twitter, he seems to really like Breaking Bad.

kettleers.org
Playing for some other team but who cares because look at him.

Will Allen #30
Hometown: Gainesville, Florida
Position: Catcher/Infield
Class: Senior
Twitter: @WillAllen30

We’ll let this picture do all the talking because… look at him. Giving us some sass with that hand on his hip, looking perfect in all dat gear. Yummy.

thetowntalk.com
We’re in love with his twitter picture too…

Vanderbilt Commodores

Dansby Swanson #7
Hometown: Marietta, Georgia
Position: Infield
Class: Sophomore
Twitter: @LieutenantDans7

Dans likes Remember the Titans and Criminal Minds, so we are meant for each other. This Georgia boy’s favorite meal is steak, creamed corn, fried okra and biscuits and he wants Tom Hanks to play him in a movie about his life. He also describes himself as #blessed. If he wasn’t perf already, this is how he answered the question- How do you want to be remembered? “As a southern gentleman who always put everyone’s needs before my own and also had an impact on the world no matter where I went.” I die.

I want his Twitter icon framed so I can hang it in my room:

twitter.com/lieutenantdans7
www.vucommodores.com
You’re welcome for all of that hard hitting journalism. If I have learned anything from creeping on all of these boys: Boys who play baseball tend to tweet lots and LOTS about baseball. But I am following all of them in the hopes they tweet a selfie.

And like, sorry that I had more from some teams than others. I was just REALLY feeling Louisville’s roster, ya’ll.

Any beaus going to Omaha that I left off the list? Tweet us @ModernMagnolias and let us know!

Happy watching, y’all!
