From One End Of The Spectrum To The Other

So if you've been around this blog or my Twitter account for more than five minutes, you're probably aware that I have a very limited color pallete when it comes to clothing.

But I must admit, lately, I've been thinking about making a change. No, I don't plan to add patterns. No, I don't plan to add color bit by bit. I think it's time to go for the polar opposite of where I am now...

That's right. All. White. Everything. (Except my cold, black heart.)

I've always heard people say things like, "White is Presidential" or "White just looks expensive" and I guess I'm starting to agree. Refinery29 even deemed all-white the way to look famous, even if you're not. Helloooo... sign me up.

Check out some of my favorite white pieces from around the internet. (Marissa Webb's first collection for Banana Republic has a  T O N  of white and they are amazing.)

All White Everything

I threw in my favorite "Spring-y nude" lip color because, why not? Exactly.

How do you feel about the all-white trend? Would you wear it?

#TuesdayTunes - 03.

I know I say this a lot but I really am obsessed with this playlist. (This is going to be an epic year in music y'all.  E P I C.) I jammed hard to this on the drive to #chsfw. And back. And then every single day since. And I don't see it ending soon.

FAIR WARNING: There are TWO Catfish & The Bottlemen songs on here and G-Eazy is featured THREE times. Sue me. #IDoWhatIWant

Some of my highlights for this fantastic playlist:

1. Doin' Time by Sublime

This will probably be my summer theme song. I'm literally so far from "West Coast" but this song is such a tune. Roll the windows down and crank this one up.

2. Still by The Japanese House

I have listened to this song over 100 times, easily. And I still can't decide if I find it sultry or depressing. And I think that's the absolute beauty of it. It's mesmerizingly melancholy and sometimes that's all you can really ask for in your music.

3. 1990s by Nova Rockafeller

Undoubtedly every 90s kid's new theme song. A girl that raps and sings about our dear old decade? Sign me up.

4. Babe I'm Yours by Whilk & Misky

I tried to describe this song to someone the other day and was kind of stumped. It's acoustic but not. It's pop but not. It's upbeat but very chill. It's just a big conglomeration of cool lyrics and a bunch of music genres I like. I'm all about Whilk & Misky these days.

5. Arsonist's Lullaby by Hozier

(I won't lie - this was a late edition. It was featured on E!'s new Hot Mess British Express meets Gossip Girl show, The Royals. And there a lot of things you can say about that show but having bad music is NOT one of them.) Hozier is incredible. Like I genuinely think he was robbed of a couple of Grammy's this year. With this song, like Take Me To Church, you can clearly hear this Irish boy's Catholic upbringing influencing his lyrics and strangely seductive ominous sounds. It also has a very blues-y feel that this Southerner loves to hear.

Here's the full playlist:

  1. Doin' Time - Uptown Dub - Album Version by Sublime
  2. All Your Fault by Big Sean, Kanye West
  3. St Jude by Florence + The Machine
  4. Lady Killers by G-Eazy feat. Hoodie Allen
  5. I Can't Lose by Mark Ronson, Keyone Starr
  6. Still by The Japanese House
  7. Where Do Broken Hearts Go by One Direction
  8. To U by Jack U, Skrillex, Diplo feat. AlunaGeorge
  9. Cocoon by Catfish and the Bottlemen
  10. All Day by Kanye West
  11. 1990s by Nova Rockafeller
  12. Last Kiss by Pearl Jam
  13. You Don't Own Me by Grace, G-Eazy
  14. Babe I'm Yours by Whilk & Misky
  15. Hotel Ceiling by Rixton
  16. Black Mambo by Glass Animals
  17. Arsonist's Lullaby by Hozier
  18. Rango by Catfish and the Bottlemen
  19. You Just Want My Money by Jason French
  20. Lights and Camera by Yuna, G-Eazy
  21. Lydie by Highly Suspect

And for some reason, Spotify won't let me embed the playlist... so  H E R E  is where you can listen to it!

Enjoy!

#CHSFW: Mosaic

So two of our guest writers styled runway shows at Charleston Fashion Week this year. T W O. And on the same night. Like, literally, back to back. The first of the two was, Mosaic, styled by Erica Hanks. (Erica wrote one of my favorite pieces we've ever posted on the site! Further connection - Mosaic is a boutique located down the street from where Magnolia, Mary Lauren, lives. I have to have to have to stop there every time I visit ML. So with all of those connections, you know this was a show I could NOT miss.

I was blown away by the entire show. From the clothes to the hair to the make up, I fell in love. So proud of Erica. Can't wait to shop the fabulousness that will be at Mosaic. Check out some of my favorite looks belowwww!

This bathing suit is UNREAL. The hair really set the look off.

I got a little excited with the editing on this one. Sue me.

This dress looks so chic and so comfortable. #gimme

Is this a belt?? I want it. W A N T.

This purse WILL be mine.

Literal gasps when this look went down the runway. That's HER HAIR. And the fringe jacket? EVERYTHING.

A better look at that hair because... EVERYTHING.
Seriously, again, I would wear color and patterns for these outfits. And I really want to figure out how to get my hair to look like the girl's that closed the show.

What do y'all think of the show? My photography skills? Let me know over on Twitter!

Enjoy!

#CHSFW: Elyssa Wingard

Y'all know I am not one to wear color (#AllBlackEverything). Or patterns, for that matter. However, I was really impressed with one of the shows at last night's Charleston Fashion Week Emerging Designers competition. Elyssa Wingard had the only collection with any color. It completely stood out from the rest. Also, her geometric prints are the perfect alternative to Lilly Pulitzer's florals that seem to change very little year in and year out.

Elyssa is from South Carolina (woohoo!!!!) and was chosen as the People's Choice designer of the night. I couldn't agree more. She sent a fantastic show down the runway.

Here's a little bit about the inspiration for her line:

Here are some of the images I captured last night:

The movement on this dress was unbelievable y'all.

I would wear color AND patterns for this dress. I am in love.
You can kind of tell in the pictures but the entire tent turned into a garden. The video tech guys are amazing but Elyssa's images really transformed the room into a garden. It was magical and I wish I could have capture it on video.

This was such a cool color combo. So fun.

Sassy pants, for real.

This print is literally heaven.

You can't really see it but there was a hint of the pattern from the last picture under this skirt. Heavenly.

I need a formal event so I have an excuse to wear this. N E E D.

Stunning finale look. STUNNING.
I know Belk was at the show last night and I think they would be CRAY CRAY not to pick this line up. It would sell better than One Direction tickets.

I'm on #TeamGraphicPrints for life.

Congrats on an incredible show, Elyssa. Can't wait to see every sorority girl on campus wearing you to formal!
